The above is a YouTube video in which Tony Jackson, Vice President for Education with the Asia Society, explains how his organization seeks to make American students more globally competitive using four teaching techniques to make students globally competent: 'investigating the world,' 'recognizing perspective,' 'communicating ideas,' and 'taking action.' In Jackson's view, teaching students this way will propel them to succeed not only in our country, but also in the world. |
The Rationale for Global Education
Global Education produces students who possess the knowledge, skills, and disposition to understand and act creatively on issues of global significance. It is more than learning about the world, but instead is engaging with the world to develop the skills necessary for shared global success, both now and in the future. Global Education is essential for the economic, national security, and social progress of all countries. The goal of this site is to provide resources and direction for educators interested in leading their students and school communities towards a more well-rounded, global education. This site was born out of the 2015 Teachers for Global Classrooms Fellowship. However, its aim is more than fulfilling the requirements of the fellowship.
